Privacy policy: Air Quality Poland
Air Quality Poland has no user accounts. What you create in the app stays on your phone unless you choose to share it. The app is free and shows ads through Google AdMob; a one-time purchase removes them. We do not sell personal data.

What the app processes
Location (optional)
If you allow it, the app uses your approximate location to find the nearest measuring stations. The location is used only on your phone and is never sent to us or anyone else. You can refuse and choose stations by hand.
Notifications (optional)
If you turn on smog alerts, the app checks the air quality of your saved stations in the background and notifies you. You can turn alerts off at any time.
Air-quality data and our server
The app downloads public measurement data through our server api.larkriff.studio, which caches data from GIOŚ. As with any internet request, our server and its network provider (Cloudflare) receive your IP address and the station data your app asks for. We keep access logs for at most 7 days, only for security and troubleshooting, and do not store IP addresses in application logs. If our server is unavailable, the app asks GIOŚ (api.gios.gov.pl) directly for your saved stations only.
Map
Map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap servers (tile.openstreetmap.org), which receive your IP address and the app's name, as described in the OpenStreetMap Foundation's privacy policy.
Data source
Air-quality data comes from GIOŚ, the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection (public-sector information). LarkRiff is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of GIOŚ or any government entity.
Permissions are optional: the app asks only when you use a feature that needs them, explains why, and keeps working if you say no.
Ads, purchases and Google services
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows ads from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google processes your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information and how you interact with ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent through Google's consent form before any personalised ads are shown; without consent, Google shows only non-personalised or limited ads. You can change your choice at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy options. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings. Google's use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Purchases (Google Play)
The “Remove ads” purchase is processed by Google Play. We never see your payment details. Google gives us the order number, product, date, country and price, which we keep as long as Polish tax law requires (usually 5 years).
Ratings
The app may occasionally show Google Play's rating prompt. Your rating and review go to Google Play, not to us.
Backups
If Android backup is turned on, Android may back up the app's settings and saved data to your Google account. This is controlled by you in Android settings.
What we do not do
No accounts, no selling of personal data, and no analytics or crash reports sent to us from the app.
Your rights and legal details
Legal bases
Personalised ads: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Purchases: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our tax obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)). Non-personalised ads that fund the free app, and security of our services: our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Who receives data
Google (Google Ireland Ltd. and Google LLC) for ads, consent, purchases and ratings, Cloudflare and our hosting provider for our air-quality server, and the OpenStreetMap Foundation for map images. Transfers outside the EEA are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of processing, data portability, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. You can withdraw consent at any time (Settings → Privacy options) without affecting earlier processing. Most data exists only on your phone: uninstalling the app deletes it. You can also complain to the Polish data protection authority: Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
